Product Description
Sibutramine is used for weight loss in conjunction with a low calorie diet. Sibutramine is indicated for overweight people with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher.

overweight people with a BMI of 27 or higher if they have medical risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol.
Dosing
Sibutramine is taken once daily, generally in the morning. Therapy usually is started with one 10mg tablet per day. The dose may be increased to 15mg by the physician after several weeks to achieve the desired effect. Doses of up to 60mg have been studied. Sibutramine may be taken with or without food.
Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription drugs you may use, especially:
* other weight reducing agents
* drugs that can raise blood pressure
* cough suppressants (e.g., dextromethorphan)
* antidepressants (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline)
* drugs for migraines (e.g., dihydroergotamine, sumatriptan)
* high blood pressure medicine
* medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers
* anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., diazepam)
* narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine)
* anti- seizure drugs (e.g., carbamazepine)
* psychiatric medicines (e.g., phenothiazines or tricyclics)
* muscle relaxants
* antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.g., diphenhydramine)
* MAO inhibitors
Do not take Sibutramine if you have taken a MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), or phenelzine (Nardil) in the last 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction may occur.
