Anavar, also known as Oxandrolone and Anvar, is a performance enhancing drug known to offer dramatic benefits without putting its users in close range with steroid side effects. This c17-alfa-alkylated steroid has an active life of approximately 8-12 hours and is relatively mild on the natural endocrine system when compared to other anabolic steroids.

Anavar is categorized as a Schedule III (non-narcotic) controlled substance under the Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990. In the world of health care, Anavar is used for treating severe health complications such as body wasting (such as AIDS wasting), hypocalcaemia, and bone pain caused by osteoporosis. It is equally effective in promoting protein synthesis, leading to build-up of solid muscle mass and quality muscle gains in as short as four to six weeks. Incidents of high blood pressure, water retention, gynecomastia, and acne are low (and almost nil) with this drug unless it is abused in high doses.

The chemical name of this performance enhancing drug is 17ß-hydroxy-17a-methyl-2-oxa-5a-androstan-3-one; the active ingredient is Oxandrolone and inactive ingredients are cornstarch, lactose, magnesium stearate, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.

The recommended dose of Anavar is 20-50 mg per day for men and 5-15 mg per day for women unless otherwise recommended by a qualified medical practitioner. Anavar is, usually, stacked with Winstrol, Equipoise, and Primobolan for improving muscle definition and attaining a lean appearance. It can be combined with androgens such as Halotestin, Proviron, and Trenbolone during a bulking cycle.

It is important to note here that Anavar abuse (absence or contravention of qualified medical advice) or use of low grade Anavar can lead to side effects such as changes in libido levels, edema, acne, male pattern baldness, insomnia, and menstrual irregularities. Moreover, Anavar must be kept at a controlled room temperature of 15-30°C (59-86°F).
